Hello, we’ll be visiting Vimy on August 7th, 2014, are there specific hours of operation, admission, misc. info we need to know prior to our visit, and what is the weather like in early-mid August. Thanks, Mary

    Hello Mary!

To visit Vimy, I advise you to phone the Arras Tourist Office. They will be able to give you all the info you need. Just see the last messages in the “about page”, I have mentioned their phone number and email.

In August, it is usually sunny here and warm (from 25 deg celsius to 30/35 deg).

    Enjoy your stay !

I would like to visit the Vimy Memorial in Mid May, taking the train from Paris. Approximately how much would it cost to take a taxi to the site? Other than walking are there other ways? Merci/

    Hi Ron!

If you are taking the train from Paris to the Arras station, then you will only need to walk for about 5-10 minutes to reach the Arras Tourist Office (located just below the Bell tower). From there, it is possible for you to take a shuttle that will take you to the Canadian Memorial Park at Vimy. The full price is €29, which is a lot cheaper than if you decide to take a taxi.

Please, visit the following link for more details (n°7 The Vimy Ridge National Historic Site of Canada) : http://www.explorearras.com/en/visit/remembrance.html

Don’t hesitate to phone or email them if you want to make a reservation (at least 24h in advance).

    Best Regards,
    Emilie

After spending a full day in visiting the Western Front on a tour from Amiens with 3 eighteen year old Australian boys we plan to visit Arras by taking the train from Paris & returning that night.
We would like to visit the tunnels. What else would you recommend the mother of one of the boys & I (his grandmother) visit or should see? We plan to be there mid August.
    Thank you

I am wondering if there is a place to store our luggage at the Arras train station whilst we take a taxi up to Vimy Ridge? If not, do you know of anywhere close to the station where we may leave our luggage for several hours?
