The castle of If in Marseille.

The castle of If (in French: le château d’If) is built on an islet belonging to the Frioul archipelago, near the islands of Ratonneau and Pomègues in the bay of Marseille. This French fortification was erected between 1527 and 1529. It served as a jail in the past. It’s possible to visit the castle since there is a regular ferry service starting from the old port (in French: le Vieux Port).
