South France
The Verdon Gorges (in French: “Gorges du Verdon” or “Grand canyon du Verdon”), in south east France, are a spectacular canyon that is considered by many the most beautiful one in Europe. Located in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence department, it is the world’s second largest canyon, with about 20 kilometers in length and more than 700 metres deep. One of the canyon’s most distinguishing characteristics is its startling turquoise-green colour. The “Gorges du Verdon” are a great holiday destination!
