Book
Arras is the capital of the Pas-de-Calais department in northern France. Having Gallic and Gallo-Roman origins and more than 2000 years of history, Arras is packed with heritage. The city and its surroundings were badly damaged during the two World Wars, but things have been rebuilt faithfully.
In July 2005, the belfry of Arras was classified as part of the ‘World Inheritance of Humanity’ by UNESCO and the Citadel of Arras is also expected to be classified in 2008. In addition, the Canadian War Memorial at Vimy and the famous underground tunnels of Arras (used by the British army in WWI to defeat the German forces) are just some of the numerous historical treasures in Arras and its surroundings that are covered in this book.
This book is written in three languages: English, French and Spanish with over 100 pictures.
